Hot wheels: Porsche 911 Sport Classic

E-mail Print PDF

Porsche 911

The Sport Classic is Porsche’s homage to its most famous and long-standing model: the 911. Its rear spoiler apes that of a 1973 Carrera 2.7 RS, its wheels those first made for the 911S in the Sixties. The dark shades around the headlights recall the 1974 RSR Turbo race car, and even the name Sport Classic has been chosen to remind us of the 911SC that was produced from 1978-84. The result looks like a new 911 that’s unearthed a suitcase full of its grandfather’s clothes and is trying them on for size.

Forest of Dean weekend

E-mail Print PDF

What a wonderful weekend. The scenery was truly breathtaking.

A gourmet weekend with a twist. The halloween party organised by the hotel went down very well indeed. Club members embraced the party with all the gusto you would expect and thoroughly enjoyed the evening as can be seen here!

It was hard to tell who was who with such wonderful costumes.

However, towards the end of the evening as more and more fangs, wigs and horns were either removed or just dropped off it became clearer who was beneath!!

Well done to the organisers Terry and Linda Peasey who masterminded the weekend.

Goodwood Revival still swinging

E-mail Print PDF

More than 134,000 people attended September’s Goodwood Revival meeting – an event record – and once again few could argue that it was anything but spectacular. On track, Red Bull F1 chief technical officer Adrian Newey piloted his hot Jaguar Lightw eight E-type to victory in the headlining RAC TT Celebration alongside multiple Indy 500 winner Bobby Rahal, 14sec ahead of last year’s TT-winning Ferrari 330 LMB steered by Bobby Verdon-Roe and Emanuele Pirro.

Paradise Wildlife Park

E-mail Print PDF
About 40 cars attended this event from both our club and Chelmsford. On one of the hottest days of the year so far we all set off from the various start points and arrived at the park ready to enjoy a BBQ, have a guided tour of the animals and be entertained by Steve and his zoo-keeper friends.
Everyone had a great time and thanks must go to Richard Shephard for all his hard work organising this event (even though I didn't win a raffle prize) and to Steve for entertaining us.

Annual Car Show

MGCSCC Show 2009.
What a success! The weather was near enough perfect & whilst for some of us it had been an intensive run up, on the day most things went smoothly & easily. The experience gained over the years has paid dividends in that the organisation through the year is now relatively painless.

The Classic Motor Show

Youngtimers on show

Encouraging younger people to the NEC,

with a selection of neo-classics...

Peugeot 205GTI

Peugeot 205GTI

The classic car industry has been one of the few beacons of good news amid the financial doom and gloom of the recession. However, as blue-chip examples have increased in value, they have had a similar effect on other classics as more people search for cars that they can affor

This increased demand has seen newer models welcomed into the classic fold, and this year's Classic Motor Show has a first-rate line up of what the Germans call 'Youngtimers' and we call retro cars.
Club Peugeot UK will be bringing along a couple of 304s – a coupé and estate – plus a monstrous GpB 205 T16 rally special and its equally famous smaller brother, a 205 GTI. Autobahnstormers will be showing cars which have already virtually disappeared from Britain's roads – a Monza GS/E, Carlton 3000GSI and a mighty Lotus Carlton. The MR2 Drivers' Club, meanwhile, will be celebrating 25 years of Toyota's mid-engined sports car.
